How to Connect Your PS3 to the Internet

If you wish to connect your PlayStation to the internet then there are a few things you’re going to need first: to sign up to an internet service provider, to be in possession of a network adapter, and to have a dial up modem or router.

If you already have a broadband connection then you can connect the network adaptor that you currently use with your PC. If you currently use dial up internet then you just need to plug your phone line into the right port.

You can also use a USB adapter to connect your console to the internet, though usually not by plugging the USB cable directly into the front of the console. The best way of going about it is to keep your current modem connected to your computer and setup internet connection sharing between your computer and your games console.

If you do not already have an Ethernet card on your computer then it’s possible to buy one for just a few dollars. Once you have this then your connection should be easy to set up. Just make sure that your USB modem is already properly installed on the computer, then enable connection sharing, and finally connect your games console to the computer.

If you wish to use your internet service provider to connect your PlayStation to the internet then this should be possible. However, if you have ever experienced any problems whilst trying to connect to the internet on your computer, then you will probably have the same problems when trying to use the console connection!

If you want to get the best gaming experience online then it’s always best to go for an internet service provider that offers a great service. If you have any problems then always try to call your ISP and get them fixed, you should also call to check whether their services are compatible with your particular console games.

There is no reason why online gaming should be expensive, and there are in fact no fees to play many of the console games online. Some of the most popular games are available for free, so just get online to check them out.

The main games that usually charge a monthly fee are Massive Multiplayer Online Games. You may also have to pay an additional cost from the hard disk drive to store your games.

These are the basics to setting up your games console to play online games. It really isn’t that difficult, though you can always get a friend to help you out if you are having any problems. Apart from what’s mentioned here, you will also have to pay for to cost of your internet service provider. However, most of us already do this! This is why playing online games is often so quick and easy to set up – providing you with unlimited opportunities when it comes to choosing and playing new exciting games.

Differences Of PlayStation 3 Models

Video game consoles are becoming more and more popular across the world, especially in the Philippines. One of the most popular electronics philippines today in terms of video game consoles is PlayStation 3. PlayStation 3, or simply known as PS3, is the third generation of the PlayStation series, successor to the very popular PlayStation 2 (PS2), which was produced by Sony Computer Entertainment. The PlayStation 3 competes with Microsoft’s Xbox 360 and Nintendo’s Wii as part of the seventh generation of video game consoles.

Models

There are currently 5 models of PS3s available for purchase today which are usually modeled after their storage capacity. These models include the “20″, “40″, “60″, “80″ and “160″ GB models. It was in June 12 of 2008 that Sony added one or two Sixaxis controllers and/or a DualShock 3 controller into the retail package. Other accessories include one miniUSB to USB cable (for connecting the controller to the system), one composite video/stereo audio output cable, one ethernet cable (20, 60, and CECHExx 80 GB only) and one power cable. Although storage capacity is the only obvious contributing factor that separates one model from another, there are still several factors that made each model unique from each other.

Compatibility with PS2 games
All models support software emulation of the original PlayStation, but support for Playstation 2 backwards compatibility has continually diminished with later models. Those that still have backwards capabilities with PS2 games include the 20gb NTSC model, 60gb NTSC and PAL model, as well as the 80gb NTSC model. Other models that doesn’t support backwards compatability with PS2 games were largely due to the removal of “Graphics Synthesizer” GPU, which stripped the units of all PlayStation 2 based hardware.

Difference with the 20gb model and the 60gb models
In addition to all of the features of the 20 GB model, the 60 GB model has internal IEEE 802.11 b/g Wi-Fi, multiple flash card readers (SD/MultiMedia Card, CompactFlash Type I/Type II, Microdrive, Memory Stick/PRO/Duo), and a chrome colored trim. In terms of hardware, the 80 GB model released in South Korea is identical to the 60 GB model released in the PAL regions, except for the difference in hard drive size.

Removal of the “Emotion Engine”
According to several electronics philippines enthusiasts, like the South Korean and European models, the North American 80 GB model also excludes the PlayStation 2 “Emotion Engine” CPU chip. However, it still keeps the “Graphics Synthesizer” GPU. Due to the elimination of the “Emotion Engine”, the level of compatibility was reduced.

Difference with external ports
The 40 GB, 80 GB (2008), and 160 GB models have two USB ports instead of the four USB ports on other models, and do not include multiple flash card readers, as well as SACD (super audio CD) support.

Change in Cell processors
It was also rumored, according to several electronics philippines enthusiasts, that the Cell processors in the third-generation PS3s which includes the 40gbs, would move from a 90 nm processor to the newer 65 nm processor. This was later confirmed by Kaz Hirai, CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment, as well as the release of 45 nm processor. This change lowers the power consumption of the console and makes it less expensive to produce.
